Fall is here and the lawn is covered in leaves. Sammie is the poop scooper in this
family. As she was headed out the door
to do her favorite chore she was grumbling about how hard it was going to be to
find the little treasures I’d left for her among all the leaves. Hun decided to join the party. He grabbed his coffee cup and strolled around
the yard pointing out all the land mines.
When Sammie finished, Hun said to her, “See, we do things
together.” Now, that is what I call
romance people.
Sammie is always complaining to Hun that she worked like a
dog in the garden or she worked like a dog cleaning the house. He just gives her his usual blank stare. I’ve always wondered though about that
expression, worked like a dog, because I don’t know any dogs that work. I’ve never seen any of my canine friends
doing hard labor around the neighborhood.
My job description says I’m supposed to look cute and wag my tail once in
a while. Okay, I wrote it, but it works
for me.
Sammie dropped me off for a spa day at the groomer’s last
week. They just got in some doggie nail
polish and couldn’t wait to try it. Since
I’m such a looker and love to get pampered, they asked her if they could paint
my toes – no charge. They took this
picture of me to post on their website.
Sammie thought I looked great and I have to say those pink toes made me
feel like one sexy girl. When Hun saw them
he just shook his head and rolled his eyes.
I have a new guy in my life and I have to say he is cute with a capital C. His name is Nick and he is my dog sitter. Sammie said she found him at that gym where she goes to lose weight. I’m not going to mention how that’s going for her. I’d be in double doo doo if I talked about that. So, mums the word. Hey, a girl has to eat and Sammie dishes out the grub. Anyway, Nick stayed with me at the house twice now when Sammie and Hun have gone away on vacation. He is one attentive male and this female said BRING IT ON BABY. It is a wonder I have any hair left on my belly. I hope Sammie and Hun go away again soon. I miss my new honey.
Don’t
tell Hun! He is still my number one guy,
but Nick is definitely number two.
Let’s face it – black dogs are not very photogenic. Sammie’s always taking pictures of me, without my permission I might add. I hate that flash going off in my eyes. Whenever she approaches with her camera I get up and move. It pisses her off every time. I know I’m adorable and all, but enough already.
You haven’t heard from me lately because I’ve been one busy dog. Hun told me he was going to get a new truck and a new knee this year and he’s a man of his word. I posted about his new truck he got a couple of months ago. Well, he got his new knee in mid-October. He and Sammie went up to Boston for several days for his surgery. I got to stay with my son and his family – real nice people that bunch. I got to go on lots of walks to the beach and hikes in the woods. I felt kind of guilty I was having so much fun, but I figured why should we all be miserable.
Hun’s knee is doing great. He does a lot of exercising which includes a walk, which of course I accompany him on. Between the exercising he’s done and all the pet therapy he got from yours truly – he’s almost back to normal. He says the worst part of the whole thing was the fact that he couldn’t drive for a month. He hates riding with Sammie. He says she drives so fast he feels like he’s on a train.
Gotta run - here she comes with that darn camera again.
It was a sad day last week when Hun’s old truck took its last gasp. Hun and the truck had been together for fourteen years. I loved that old heap too and spent many pleasurable hours riding shotgun going on one errand or another with Hun. It was our getaway truck (from Sammie, but don’t tell her). Being the parsimonious gentleman that he is, he didn’t want to shell out the money to buy a new one. After much grumbling, necessity won out. That and Sammie telling him to open his wallet, let the moths fly out and break down and buy a new one. She has a way with words our Sammie.
The new truck is the same model as the last one, but has a few more bells and whistles, which Hun said he didn’t really need however they came with the truck.
I’ve got to say, I’m loving my new ride.
Check me out!
